The Notes for Peace Camp: FAQ

 

 

What is special about the Notes for Peace Camp?

 

The Notes for Peace Camp will bring together one-hundred Israeli and Palestinian youth between the ages of 11 and 16 and approximately 25 musicians and artists from around the world to participate in the camp's opening session. The participating artists, who will be drawn primarily from the Middle East, the United States, and UK will teach music, ?lm, theatre, photography, and dance in groups with an emphasis on collaborative art. Campers will also participate in guided dialogue sessions and get a chance to showcase their new talents at nighttime performances alongside their artist instructors.

Who can participate?

 

The Notes for Peace Camp is intended for Jewish-Israeli, Arab-Israeli, and Palestinian youth. Participants will be selected at a later date via a recruitment process to be determined at a later date by Notes for Peace, Inc. How much will the camp cost?

 

Notes for Peace hopes that the Notes for Peace Camp will be free or heavily subsidized by its participants.

Where will the camp be located?

Who will supervise the campers?

 

A director with extensive experience in youth camping will administer the Notes for Peace Camp. Campers will be chaperoned at their daily activities by college-age volunteer counselors from Israel and abroad. A nurse and doctor will be on-call at all times to deal with health-related issues. What are the language requirements for participating in the Notes for Peace Camp?

 

At this time, Notes for Peace is looking into the possibly of having on-hand translators for its daily programs, but basic conversational English is recommended to fully participate in Notes for Peace Camp. Translators will be provided at camp dialogue sessions and nighttime performances.

Funding

Notes for Peace's programs are completely funded by public donations and grants. Notes for Peace greatly appreciates any donations made on behalf of its programs. Notes for Peace is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in behalf of Notes for Peace may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
