The Notes for Peace Camp is a two-week summer music and arts camp in Israel, where Israeli and Palestinian youth will come together and be taught by musicians and artists from around the world in the interest of building tolerance, coexistence, and peace.
Goals
• To promote cultural exchange, dialogue, friendship, and coexistence.
• To encourage arts education and inspire creative expression.
• To help build a generation of future leaders and advocates for peace in the Middle East.
• To involve the worldwide music and arts community in fostering an environment for understanding.
2010 Proposed Opening
Notes for Peace plans to open up its camp by Summer 2010, working alongside Israeli and Palestinian authorities to ensure the greatest success for the camp and its participants. Funding assistance is greatly needed.
How It Will Work
The Notes for Peace Camp will bring together one-hundred Israeli and Palestinian youth between the ages of 11 and 16 and approximately 25 musicians and artists from around the world to participate in the camp's opening session. The participating artists, who will be drawn primarily from the Middle East, the United States, and UK will teach music, film, theatre, photography, and dance in groups with an emphasis on collaborative art. Campers will also participate in guided dialogue sessions and get a chance to showcase their new talents at nighttime performances alongside their artist instructors.
